Podcast Marketing: How to Easily Grow Your Audience in the Thousands and Make a Lasting Impact with Your Brand Paperback – July 7, 2021
by Daniel Larson (Author)
4.7 out of 5 stars
Your podcast was launched just a few days ago, and the first few podcasts received a lot of traffic and positive feedback! You could see your hard work pay off, and you felt satisfied that you were in the direction of the promised land of numerous regular listeners. After the initial growth of newbies the listenership begins to slow down. In truth, the curve begins to flatten quicker and earlier than many would are willing to admit.
In truth, you're not alone. Many podcasters have the same issue.
Many believe that podfading is an untruth, however, the statistics prove otherwise...
One of the statistics you're probably already aware of will be that, if you make it beyond the first seven episodes, you're doing better than the majority. 50percent of the podcasts that are published contain under 15 episodes...I'll allow you to discover the connections.
You're passionate about your work. And your stories and your messages are significant and are worthy of spreading.
However, it's difficult to invest your time and energy testing new ideas to expand your reach but see only a few or no results.
If you've experienced this, then you've experienced the sensation.
' Podcasting marketing' is any step that contributes to the development of your podcast and a higher number of listeners. It's likely that you've realized that marketing plays a major part in:
How fast you can expand your podcast?
How do you build excitement around your show and keep listeners
How do you utilize social media to draw new listeners
How fast you can hit 1,000, 2000, 10,000 daily downloads!
I have helped numerous students from feeling unclear and uncertain to feeling confident and clear. A student began working with me right after he launched his podcast. In the first six months, he'd had more than 15,000 downloads! The show was amazing but needed a clear way to market it to continue to grow. My methods are a bit unconventional, but they work. The less is more!
It's a shame that so many podcasters who are driven by passion devote their time engaged on every social media platform trying to attract big-name guests, or even investing money in advertisements that don't work and think this is the best way to increase the number of listeners.
It could be an unexpected shock to you, they're not generating any listeners that is, they don't aid or maintain your progress.
In the podcasting marketing you will learn:
How do you organically grow your subscriber base to the hundreds of thousands
How to make use of social media to build your listeners automatically through positive ecosystems page 126

This Book Helps Aspiring & Current Podcasters How to Brand & Grow a Successful Podcast & Reputation
Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2021
This podcast marketing book is a great resource for current and future podcasters. Author Daniel Larson states that the goal is to actually see a significant and consistent uptrend in your listenership. This means that you have to take the marketing side seriously.
First, do you really KNOW who's listening? Potential podcast guests will ask how many listeners you have and you must be able to prove that. Furthermore, when you know what your listeners want to hear, you can provide even better content.
Branding is the story behind the business and the logo (as well as the reputation of the company). Your listeners need to be aware of your message, what you stand for, and how they fit into your brand. Be able to condense what you and your podcast business are all about in a few words.
Complete Your Podcast Brand Strategy:
1) Brand Heart: your purpose, mission, vision, values
2) Brand Messaging: brand voice, messaging, taglines, value proposition, brand messaging pillars
3) Brand Identity: logo, color, typography, etc.
4) Brand Narrative: where you are taking people, trigger their emotions
5) Brand Competition: know how your brand compares to the competition and find a way to stand out
Your podcast must be structured with a beginning, middle, and end. You can segment episodes with games, music, news of the day, etc. Share your podcast across social media. Use hashtags.
Analyze Your Podcast Show:
1) Is it unique?
2) Is it specific enough?
3) Does it stand for something that your target audience can get behind?
4) Does the message you're sending invite listeners into the narrative?
This well-researched book is packed with practical information to help novices to experienced podcasters looking to grow their branding and following. I highly recommend reading this insightful book.

This is such an awesome book. I wish it was here when I first started my podcast two years ago.
The marketing side of podcasting is something that I have never really got the hang of for the longest time. I was consistently wondering if things I was doing was actually helping me grow, ie all this social media stuff. I am sure we have been there before when you are working so hard with the show doing all these different things trying to grow but sometimes it feels like a challenge! Up until this point I haven't found a more comprehensive guide on how to grow a show. The book is clear and concise and Daniel does an amazing job of giving you the best strategies to use. With templates and step by step guides to use. I feel so much more confident about the direction that my show is heading.
I love the instagram section which talks about key engagement hacks as well as the breakdown of the algorithm and how to use it to your advantage not just to grow your social media but also to grow your podcast. Driving my audience from my social media to my podcast used to be so hard but I know I have a clear strategy to convert social media audience to podcasters listeners thanks to this book!

It teaches you about how to scale your audience and it talks about different ways to market your podcast. I found lots of useful tips in this book. One of them was a section about social media marketing. The book is very easy to read, and I like a step by step approach. It motivated me and gave me confidence to take action and start my own podcast.

I have been podcasting for about 2 years now. And I must say this has got to be the single greatest piece of content I have come across on the topic of growing a podcast. Daniel goes above and beyond with this book, honestly, it’s the amount of helpful tips and practical walk-through in this book. I am so thankful that he used live examples and walked through. My favorite chapter has got to be chapter 5 all about growing with social media. I have learned so much and have started applying some of the strategies mentioned in the book, more specifically, the positive ecosystem.
This has changed how I viewed growing and marketing my show. I feel like up until now I have just been guessing with my show, not really having a clear plan for how to grow the show, but thankfully Daniels has cleared up all my worry. I feel so much more confident now about my ability to grow my shows.
You should ignore this book if you are intimidated by jack packed values on how to grow and reach your audience.

Daniel has great advice whether you’re thinking about starting a podcast, have had one for a short while and even if you’ve been in the game for a while. Each chapter breaks down fundamentals around a topic and lays out the tactics in an easy to understand way that includes a recap full of actions you can take. I imagine I’ll revisit this from time to time when I want to try tactics I haven’t tried before, or to refresh and rethink ones I have.

I think that as a new person to this industry, this book gives me some solid ideas as to how market and grow an audience for a podcast. I feel more empowered knowing a little bit about what is entailed. There are so many podcasts out there now and having a solid plan as to how to make one a success is very needed. I honestly wasn't thinking of all that goes into it and that you don't just magically get noticed just because you create a podcast. I will pass this on to my friends who are also embarking on the journey of having a podcast. Great stuff!

I picked up this book after reading some comments in a podcast Facebook group. I've been podcasting for a few years now, but never really gave a lot of thought to marketing my show, other than the social shares, etc. Larson's book has helped me look deeper into my show and provided some helpful advice that has already paid benefits in growth. For example, I thought I had a pretty good handle on my target audience, but have been able to niche down even further to engage with people who convert to listeners faster. Larson's book has also given me new insight into how I use social media, apply analytics, and increas visibility with SEO. If I had read this book when I started out on my podcasting journey, I'd definitely be in a different place now. This book is well worth the investment.

One of the most engaging how-to books out there
Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2021
Daniel Larson knows marketing. How can you tell? Just read the first couple of pages. The engaging, conversational style immediately pulled me in and kept me in, which I find to be really important for 'how-to' type books, because I will learn nothing from a book that immediately puts me to sleep. The info is great of course, but the style is honestly so refreshing.
If you're already a podcaster, prepare to laugh-cry a little at the relatability of the woes he describes, then addresses - the 7-episode itch, the realization that your friends and relatives form 98% of your audience, the doubt that any of it will ever take off. We all know the feeling. If you're thinking about getting into podcasting, think of it as a sort of tonic against hopelessness. As with Larson's first book, this one is chock-full of actually helpful strategies backed by research. Some of it seems so obvious it's hard to believe I didn't think of doing these things myself, but that's what I appreciate about it - the logic behind why certain strategies work is intuitive, even if the actual nuts and bolts of putting the plan into action are elusive for a novice podcaster. Super pleased with this book and highly recommend to those just starting out, as well as those who have been around a while and need to breathe some fresh air into their marketing strategy.

If you’re planning to start a podcast program, I highly recommend reading this book.
Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2021
What a brilliant book about podcast marketing! I love how the author put this quote by Steve Jobs "If you are working on something exciting you care about, you don't have to be pushed. The vision pulls you” and how the author explains that you need to have a target audience when it comes to your podcast, hands down. I love how the author explains that not having a target audience is too broad, the show doesn’t speak to a specific target audience. It’s for everyone. When you market your show in this way, “you aren’t speaking to a specific person who has specific needs. So when they come across your promotion it sounds like fluff.”
So, this advice alone is just in chapter one. Reading the whole book will gain you more knowledge and ideas on how you approach your podcast that will surely hit. And if you are a person who loves life hacks, guess what? This book provides hacks on how to use your social media such as Instagram to gain more audience to your podcast.
So if you’re planning to start a podcast program, I highly recommend reading this book. I can write down all the ideas, advice, hacks, and a lot more in my review but I guess it will be unfair to the author of this book since it will be a summary of how brilliant this book is.
A nice beginner guide to make the journey easier!

This book was very eye opening. The examples were good and depicted properly on where we fall short, suggestions were great confirmations and the ideas given were great. I’d like to think this guide helps to develop and simplify your podcasts hook and mission.
There were good chapter key points to help you build notes or create your own to-do list based on your needs.
Tips are easy to follow and the guidelines on proper engagement is what I liked most. You get Networking tips, Brand building, Audience building, Partnering and sponsorship tips and more.
This is a nice beginner guide to make the journey easier and to help podcasters analyze their purpose with podcasting; whether it will be a temporary thing for them or a long-standing journey. It can also be reassuring for those who feel like they aren’t doing it right, it can be a guide for those who are completely lost. The topics so far help to figure out the scope. It can help the readers not fight with so many overwhelming thoughts by actually focusing in on what matters, which are the listeners.
Getting right to the points is what I enjoyed most. Everything was understandable so far and justifiable. I can’t wait to test some of the tips out.

I had the pleasure of reading this book and following the group that has been put together by Daniel's group. I found a lot of knowledge within this book and have followed them myself. I enjoyed a lot of this book and found the tips useful and not slimey. A lot of people will give you tips, yet they feel slimy to do. Daniel's non-sense approach leaves you feeling connected with your community. Some people say, it could be said in fewer words, while that can be true, you won't feel like you are talking to a friend. I like that aspect being brought into the book. I felt like this was built for a community, not just a self-help book, or a teaching book. I felt like it was a community-minded book built for friends so they can grow a platform that a community of like-minded individuals will come, listen and stay because they feel at home. I appreciate this type of writing and the tips will work if you put in the work. Nothing will help if you lazily stand by and expect things to happen for you. Great read.
Podcast Marketing Help for Non-Marketers
Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2021
I launched my podcast in 2020 as a quarantine project with an idea, but without thinking about marketing. Over my first year, I've been focusing on the technical side and now that I'm solid there, I've been looking for a resource to really start growing my audience. I don't come from a marketing background, so didn't really know where to start, and was really happy with how approachable this book made it feel.
If you're like me and are coming at podcasting knowing nothing about marketing, this book walks you through understanding who your audience is, developing your podcast's individual brand, and how to do this without having to invest in ads if you're just getting started. There's a good amount of emphasis also on the idea of building connections online, both with fellow podcasters and with your audience. This has always been a challenge for me, but the section on how to pitch to potential guests breaks it down and makes it much less intimidating.
Also included in the book is a bonus chapter that discusses an important part of any long-term project: Mindset. Because unless you come to podcasting with a pre-established fanbase, it's gonna be a marathon and not a sprint, and it's really easy to get discouraged early on if you're not seeing the success that every other podcast seems to be getting.
All in all, I'm really happy with this book. My cohost and I are going to be using it as we sit down to plan our second season to ensure that we have a solid marketing plan in place to support our content and really start to grow our audiance!
I Highly Recommend This to Anyone Interested in Marketing !

I haven't done Podcasting, but I thought this book might have insights and tips for online marketing and selling (which it does !). The one aspect which stands out for me is the positive enthusiasm the author displays throughout. The author sugarcoats nothing here, giving a realistic narrative on how tough gaining a following and audience in this field can be, especially considering all the competition. But the author encourages and provides positive guidance at the same time. I will re-read various chapters of the book as the information for beginning marketers I believe is extremely valuable. You do need some patience and perseverance with the book as there is repetition and quite a lot of the author's anecdotes and humor to take in. However, I think its all in good faith and makes the book personal and complete. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in marketing !

There Isn't a Better Resource for Marketing Your Podcast
Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2021
I've been producing podcasts for myself and others for years. I've come across 100 different ways to market a podcast, but there is no guide as straightforward and comprehensive as this book.
The problem is this: anyone can tell you how to do it, but very few will show you.
There are Facebook Guru's who tell you one way, YouTube Guru's another, but what about people who only market podcasts? People who aren't trying to make a quick buck, and actually care about podcasts. If you've read his other books, you know how in-depth Daniel will be.
My favorite part about this is the emphasis on organic growth. You don't have to have an entire ad budget and marketing team to start this, and when you do get to that point Daniel show's you how to craft effective ads that actually convert to listeners. On top of that, he shows you how to build your own platform and use SEO to drive more organic traffic - something that very few people can explain how to do simply when it comes to podcasts (I know from hiring a bunch of them).
Stop reading article after article and listening to Facebook gurus peddling the same old cookie-cutter marketing bs. and buy this thing for you, and your audience.

A Book That Re-Thinks Podcast Marketing

It is true that it is impossible to grow a podcast without marketing. Seems obvious, right? What isn't obvious is how to do it. Being someone who is new to podcasting and growing my own podcast I started by searching the Web, looking on YouTube, and even asking friends (some who knew nothing about podcasting). I was met with expensive strategies or 25 min YouTube videos that never got the punchline and tried to sell me a monthly program. With "Podcast Marketing" by Daniel Larson I learned quickly what the important elements of marketing a podcast are and how to take actionable steps to grow an audience that actively seeks out my content and future episodes. I am still early in the process and am very excited to continue to test and learn the strategies in the book that have already begun to help me. If you are a new podcaster or seem "stuck" in the marketing department I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you try this book! This book takes a new and simplified approach to explaining how to market your podcast, and lays out the steps that you need to take to see results without breaking the bank! Give it a read!

It covers some very important things that a casual podcaster might not even consider: target audiences, SEO, using ads to increase reach...and much more than that! The lessons contained within aren’t groundbreaking by any means but are effective and easy for one to not only understand but to apply as well (which is what I love about this author). If you’re serious about maximizing your influence through social media, building and maintaining relationships with your listeners and how to understand the mysterious algorithm amongst other things, Daniel Larson’s got you.

This is a book full of value. It feels like I am going through an expensive podcast marketing course but better.
From branding to how to use your social media to grow your podcast. I also love the fact that in chapter 3 he provides you a clear outline to follow if you want to make sure you are booking the right guest and guesting the right shows to make sure you get the most exposure.
I have recently started applying the growth and hibernation strategy and have found success already. Daniel gives you a clear road map on how to properly market your podcast.
Truly mind-blowing value. Thanks so much. Ohh and I loved the bonuses too! They are awesome!

I've gone back & forth with starting my own podcast, but the fear of failure has been holding me back. This book has allowed me to soak up as much information on the process as I can.
The book focuses on the marketing side of things also a little bit of motivation & mindset-based material as well. It tells you the importance of figuring out who your audience will be and how to tailor your show to those people; It outlines plenty of tools producers can leverage to grab detailed analytics on their shows and episodes. I plan on using many of those tools in the near future.
This book comes with great knowledge for podcast marketing.

This book is so packed with great content and knowledge. Me and my co-host just started a podcast less than a year ago, and our number one question through the whole process thus far is how do make this podcast GROW??? Well after reading this book we have a very good concept on how to do just that. This book unpacks so much info that you can tell the author has quite an extensive level of experience with podcast marketing. I highly recommend this book to any podcaster no matter what level of podcasting you are. Round of applause to the author!!!

This book is so well-written and organized. You can easily reference the topics you are most interested in. I recommend reading cover to cover first then keeping it handy for quick references. There are so many incredible nuggets found in Mr. Larsen’s arsenal. My favorite chapters are 5 & 6! Incredibly important stuff!
