Today I’m joined by Justin Burns, a self-made millionaire who faced up to a learning disability and persevered to become the successful entrepreneur he is today.
I like to call Justin the code guy. He’s got the subscription membership model code, the expert millionaire code, the online code - this guy has a bunch of hacks that will help you get to where you want to be.
I’m super excited because I love it when I can be selfish and serve at the same time.
I get to share Justin with you guys in this video, but personally, I’m also excited to learn his expertise on what’s possible and how to make it happen.
When I look back at my life, there is one week that I can pinpoint where I stopped sucking. In fact, I remember it so clearly I know the exact date. It was the 4th of November 2008.
Justin remembers this time for himself too. It’s something that stays with you.
He became the man he is today when he found a mentor in his boss at the company he worked for in his early 20’s. This guy changed Justin’s life. With tough love, he helped Justin face the challenges in front of him and look at himself differently.
Justin was the kid in school that wasn’t good at sports or math. But he’s a big believer that everyone has this point, where if you keep pushing to find the real you, the person you know inside and the person you want to be, you get there eventually.
You just have to keep fighting for it.
I’m here to (selfishly!) pick Justin’s brains on how he overcame his demons to get to where he is today and share his wisdom with you.

What Is The Secret To Success?
Doesn't it look like successful people are aware of something that you aren't?
Have you noticed that leaders perceive life differently as compared to the general population?
It's not about making lots of money. It's about true achievement. Genuine happiness. What's the secret of success? What do other leaders have learned that you don't? If you're the kind of person who is aware that you deserve more from life I'd like to tell you the reasons that led me to write the book " How To Be Successful: Think Like A Leader "By the time I reached 27 years old I was the proprietor of several companies across a variety of industries, including medical manufacturing, fashion distribution, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. I was a successful businessman in a relatively young age. It was a great life! Everything changed when I began experiencing regular grand mal seizures. In 2010 my brain was diagnosed as cancerous. The oncologists gave me 60-90 days to survive. I lost everything when I was incapable of driving, living by myself, or recall even the smallest details like whether I'd eaten food or had the insulin injection. Everything I'd researched as well as the businesses I constructed and memories were gone.My family and I traveled on a trip to Tijuana, Mexico, to explore alternative therapies. In a state of uncertainty as to whether I would survive and if I would even make it, I was compelled to help change the lives of as many people as possible.I started contacting the people I admire as well as asking them questions. How To Be Successful: Think Like A Leader This book is a collection of real stories and interviews with entrepreneurs that will help you on your way to success.

They are constantly beaten down by the other person. their back and scolds them. What I've discovered is that Being competitive is great when everyone wins. However, if you are able to win over others, it's not a great characteristic, but rather an individual flaw. It's a flaw. That's why I'm working on the part of loyalty, asking, "How do we all win? How are we all - for each other?"

At first I thought this book was going to be another self-help book telling me stuff that I’ve heard before. I had planned on reading the Introduction to validate my prior thoughts and then toss the book aside. To my surprise Curtis McCoy grabbed me with his story. He had it all. He was young (27) and living a very prosperous life when a tumor on his brain changed everything. He lost it all, including his independent and pieces of his memory. McCoy worked on his health issues and on defining his life. He decided to focus on “success” by asking several successful people to define it and to give some direction on the subject. Their responses ranged from traditional, unconventional and spiritual. I found myself revisiting and updating my definition of success.
This book is thought provoking, inspirational and motivational. Yes, it has predictable advice like: get up early, exercise, eat well balanced meals, learn to say no ….but that advice is peppered with real life experiences. Curtis McCoy gave me plenty to digest. It’s a quick read and one well worth my time. I strongly recommend checking this book out.

You will have no excuse as a leader after reading this book. You will have to do the inner work and can't skip a day more.
This book is not only for leaders but also for those who want to learn the true definition of a successful life well-lived.
What makes this book unique is the backstory and the sheer intentions of the author for writing this book.
I will not say all he said in this book is something I haven't heard before, but the perspective is uniquely different.
I think we should all view life and our goals with this perspective.
The big message I got from his story is that there are things that MUST be done and there is always a timeline whether we like it or not. The thing about success is that it doesn't wait for anyone. The perfect time to start is always now. I enjoyed the book.

A distinctive book on how to be successful by thinking like a leader. The book has a plethora of info from the author. There are also a number of interview sessions with successful leaders. This brings a vital combination of information and the actual experience of real people. Well, I liked the interviews. I think they've added an extra measure of information that can help the reader see precisely what the author was writing about. This book is a perfect read for those who feel that they are not getting their role right, for those who want to be promoted or move to a new job that may have different requirements, or ideally for those who want to look to the future and ensure that they have the ability to move to a higher level of responsibility.

M. Curtis McCoy's book is a self-help life-changer for those open to his message. He has the experience and smarts to encourage anyone facing challenges to put their best foot forward and approach things with the proper mindset for accomplishing just about anything. Curtis has been quite successful in his life, yet has also faced many challenges that might defeat a person unless they have the proper mindset. His interviews and shared life experience not only motivate but inform the reader of what is possible to accomplish. I'm thrilled to have read this book and unabashedly recommend it to others who are on a journey of self-improvement and are open to attitude adjustment (in a good way).

I've read a lot of these books and they can get repetitive. This book took a fresh approach and made it a joy to read. More importantly I got some useful tips out of it. I never get tired of hearing real stories of how people overcame adversity to achieve success. His interview style is ideal for teaching through interviews and stories. Even though its not a motivation book, I found the content to have a motivational effect on me.

Lots of wisdom packed into this little book

I always enjoy self-help books that contain interviews with successful people. The main reason is that you just learn so much, by listening to their stories, insights and experiences. I read the book straight in 2 hours and got insights that I would never be able to get from sitting down with those people for lunch. The investment in this book, is money well spent. One of my favorite quotes from the book came from Nathan Schulhof who answered the question of how he manages and prioritizes decisions: "Usually I prioritize by profit and loss." An unusual response, that reminded me how difficult we are wired. Read this book and learn from different people how to be successful.

It is a wonderful book that I genuinely apply, I remember it well. I read a pre-publication copy back in mid 2020. Sure, I am always reading and inculcating. But, when the ideas are genuinely worth it, I genuinely internalize the best of them, which is some of what this book offers. So, when I say "yes" in the headline, I mean this is a great read for anyone who needs to be motivated to genuinely lead themselves to personal victory.

The others who were interviewed in the book were great as well. The stories that everyone shared, the experiences and lessons all deserved the emphasis. I was very touched by a number of stories mentioned. An enjoyable read and very insightful.

It's my opinion that the strength in this book lies in the various viewpoints of the individuals interviewed. It seems most often these type of books are trying to sell you a road map that only has one route to the destination. Here we have one map, seven different routes, and seven different destinations on that map.
We are all individuals, with individual definitions of success, with individual routes to get there. This book is a great reminder of that.
This is not just a self-help book.

Useful Advice by a Successful Entrepreneur
Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2021
How To Be Successful by M. Curtis McCoy is an inspirational book that teaches readers how to obtain success in their lives. Through his experiences, he offers valuable insight and advice on how to achieve prosperity.
The author begins by telling readers that to have a successful business they must fill a gap in the market. He talks about significant opportunities for self-improvement, which are often missed by many people. He then discusses his struggle with a brain tumor. Doctors said he would not survive it, but he survived the illness through alternative treatments at a clinic in Mexico. He then launched his business, named Best Cellular, which has become a successful company. Next, he advises readers to utilize difficulties for their benefit by using them as a stepping stone to prosperity. In this way, they will be positive and happy in every situation.
This book was very empowering. I encountered only a few errors in the book, so it was professionally edited. Furthermore, the book was uniquely structured, as the author scattered many of his interviews with famous people throughout the text, thereby making the book more exciting and interesting. Moreover, the author’s advice was original, as he shared with a genuine attitude. What I liked most about the text was that it was highly motivating and uplifting, helping readers overcome obstacles in their lives. I have no negative things to say about this book.
This book will be liked by young entrepreneurs who are launching a business and aim for success and prosperity in their lives. Christian readers will probably appreciate this book more, as there are Biblical verses in it.

How to Be Successful is a handbook to success. Mc Coy organized it as interviews with successful business people alternating with advice. The questions are identical for everyone, and the answers are also close among the respondents. They refer to family, faith, the right communication, behavior, discipline. Reading is also important, especially thoughtful, repeated, reflective reading of books written by such who already have reached success.
The author uses straightforward and easy to grasp language, but reading the book requires thinking and reflecting all along for the more performative purpose of bringing success to the reader.
The interviewees (most of them) acknowledge faith and religion as relevant factors and support advice with quotes from the Bible. So this advice has been there for as long as the Bible.
The effect of the book is all the more powerful as it addresses even people whose concern is more towards healing themselves of serious illnesses. Such have the example of the author, who started in life suffering from a debilitating condition and, after his first success, was brought back to zero by another disease, which he overcame and then became successful in business again.
The book has almost no errors or mistakes; it benefited from a remarkable proofreader who did a perfect job on it.
I grant How to Be Successful five stars out of five, and hope it will help many become as successful as its author.

I feel this book will become a classic in its field. Author M. Curtis McCoy has superb advice for how to become successful. He runs a successful company yet is relatable and writes in an engaging style.
In addition to his own advice, which comes through many ups and downs while navigating a difficult medical diagnosis and still being successful, he also offers advice from other successful people in this book. He interviews many people who are doing extremely well in their chosen field and asks them the same set of questions. The answers are inspirational, helpful, and directly applicable to everyday life and to business life.
The author (and many of the experts he interviews) also touches on faith and on its role in his development and success, something which most other books in this field don't do. The mentions of Christianity are helpful for someone seeking to become successful while putting God first. The book could still be read in a purely secular manner if desired (e.g. by an agnostic), although it might not be the best choice for someone who is strongly opposed to Christianity.
The book is aimed at people of all ages; however, it clearly shows his desire to help young people because one of the questions asked in the book of each expert is "What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?" This makes the book a great choice for a graduation gift. At the same time, the audience who will appreciate this is a wide audience of all ages, not just young people.

Having read a number of leadership and "how to be successful" books over the years, I approached this book with healthy dose of skepticism, but was quickly disarmed by McCoy's candor in sharing his own personal story of surviving brain cancer before the age of 30. The entire book is designed to "pay it forward" to people who truly want to pursue that goal they've always wanted to achieve, but weren't quite sure how to take the first step. One of my favorite parts of the book is how McCoy chooses to define success. "Success is about doing something that improves the lives of others and makes you truly happy." The idea of leaving the world, another person's life in a better place than which you found it is a theme that permeates throughout the book. It was a pleasure to read and serves as a source of motivation for those who are willing to cast aside doubt and take that first step.

Can anyone be successful? M. Curtis McCoy interviewed several people, from different backgrounds, who had achieved success. The interviews revealed many similarities and habits these people had developed and practiced. I loved the difference in the backgrounds that reinforced the idea that there are methods we can develop and improve that will lead to success. McCoy went through his own trials when he suffered health problems that devastated his body, mind, and employment. He came back from these hardships. The only excuses we have for not succeeding are the ones we accept in our own minds. McCoy's interviews, and life experiences, show the reader that success is there for all - even me, even you!

This book is one of the best self-help books I ever read. The messages really stayed with me, and I've found myself adopting some of the practices and lessons. The author's honesty was so refreshing, and he really tells the reader what is required to become successful without omitting the sleepless nights and sacrifices. The interviews conducted were quite inciteful as well, but my favourite has to be Mr McCoy's mother. The various people he interviewed as well show readers that we all have what it takes to be successful. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for success.
