It's awesome to finally see Brian's story in print. This is an exciting and encouraging read... and I encourage you to read it! I've lived part of this story as one of the very first 1 800 GOT JUNK employees in the early 1990s and we have been close friends ever since. The company has grown immensely since then of course, but Brian still remains the 'most ordinary guy there is' as he says. I think that balance of ambition and being grounded in friends and family has been one of the keys to his success. He is also dedicated to his vision and won't give up -- and often that vision was something only he could see. More than once at the end of a summer, friends would go back to university or off to our first real jobs, and thought maybe Brian would do the same. His junk biz was neat and everything, but c'mon! It was time to get serious about life. Brian stuck with what he was doing, and has figured out how to do something he loves and be very successful at it. I remember in 1996 he was just about to reach the milestone of $1MM/year in revenue. Now they do $1MM in revenue every day. A fascinating read on how to create a vision, overcome challenges, go with your intuition, and create something amazing.

Loved the book. Hate the cover.

This is an inspirational tale of success with vivid descriptions including the bumps and slips along the way. I have read it twice in one week and I am going through it again using the highlighter.
I almost did not read this because of the cover, but I was urged to do so. I still hate looking at the cover. I also recommend this book, but I still hate the totally unnecessary abbreviations on the cover. Really? Why? It is not appropriate or necessary, to bring to mind, what I consider to be a very vulgar expression, in this otherwise inspiring book of entrepreneurial success.
One of the lessons I appreciated most from this success textbook is: "If every person in your organization leads people smaller than themselves, you will become a company of tiny people. If every person in your organization leads people greater than themselves, you will become a company of giants."

This book is so inspiring. The author Brian is so honest about his business “ mistakes” yet through it all keeps his enthusiasm and keeps moving toward his vision. His passion for life and his gratitude for the people in his life, who have crossed his path, guided or mentored him is commendable because as he says “no one gets success on their own”
I would recommend this book for every high school student and beyond. Not everyone has the vision or the tenacity that Brian has but sometimes people just need the flame stoked a bit to start the fire, the passion to do something they love. I think this book could definitely do that.

Brian's true story of his journey to success and lessons along the way is an enjoyable read. He and his "Blue Wig Sprit" colleagues are the types of leaders I've wanted to work with my whole career. BTW - I have been to the campus in Austin that he speaks of and it is just as he described, and so is the Wizard.

Yep, I call 'em like I see 'em. Brian's a Freaking Awesome Radical Canadian Entrepreneur.
I stepped into my office after traveling a few days to see my recently ordered WTF?! sitting in my chair. I brewed a hot cup of java, came back to my chair, picked up my copy, and read it cover-to-cover, pausing only to visit the loo (a result of multiple java brewings). The book was well written (I could see the work of a good word Wizard throughout the book) and lays bare the honesty that only failure reveals. WTF?! gives hope to those of us who have certainly had our share of the f-word on the entrepreneurial journey and lights the fire of those aspiring to create something spectacular, i.e., creating an extraordinary life. Hell, who turns a junk removal business into the FedEx of junk removal? Brian did, and in the process lifted so many up along the path, a less traveled by path. Do yourself a favor and go buy this book. Take this from a guy who hasn't been able to read a book cover-to-cover in years (ADHD?).

Every entrepreneur needs to read this book! It's a realistic, heartfelt story of the challenges that face every person who decides to venture out on their own. Its not just about the challenges. Brian outlines how they tackled every obstacle and made it an opportunity that ultimately propelled their growth. He stresses the importance of corporate culture and gives real world examples of what worked and what didn't. I am a multi-unit operator with ambitious plans to grow a significant number of stores. After reading this book I've scraped those plans and doubled them! Bottom line...you need to read this book!!!

My first furniture attempts were an expensive, humorous horror show...gifts relatives dreaded getting! Now people are willing to trust me with delicate antiques for restoration..others buy custom cabinets and furniture. I failed hundreds of times...but success is very sweet!
A fun read with great nuggets of experience from Brian

Brian has a fabulous way of writing that makes you feel like you are listening to an old friend recalling stories over a beer. His book is a great read and has lots of humorous moments, but also some real nuggets of knowledge from a man who has been through it in real life, yet it never feels like a "listen to me because I am so great" book.
I would recommend this to anyone who is doubting their ability to start their own business.

I enjoyed reading of this book. It is inspiring and honest read from someone who already achieved something.
So, it's not kind of "interviewing og rich people to dind their secret". Author talks about his own experience and he knows what he is talking about.
Good to have a biography thats is truth and bare bones!
