I always love any time that I get the opportunity to dig-deep with someone who’s a master at something that’s difficult, so today I’m super excited to be joined by Sam Taggart.
Sam is the CEO of D2D, Host of D2Dcon, Author of ABC’ $ of Closing and D2D Planner and founder of the D2D University, a door to door sales training and consulting platform.
He’s always been an entrepreneur. At age 7, you would find Sam selling golf balls at the local course. At 11, he started selling magazines door to door.
Sam grossed over $1000,000 in sales through high school with his first company, “The Gutterman.” He managed 11 employees, and together they would paint the addresses on the curbs in local neighborhoods.
At 18, he entered into door to door Alarm Sales and quickly became one of the best reps in the industry. He’s a master salesman, recruiter, and leader.
You don’t have to know a lot about sales to know that it can mean a tonne of different things.
There’s all kinds of sales, but there’s nothing like knocking on someone’s door when they’re not expecting you and turning a hard no into a yes. It’s a true skill that you can learn and apply to many different aspects of life.
Selling door to door is SO much more than just “sales.” It’s habits, it’s drive, it’s discipline, it’s communication. It’s true dedication and commitment, something Sam has persevered with his whole life.

Hey Jeff and Sam, I loved the content here. I'm not what I would call a sales person at all, I work as a video editor making trash money and I was inspired by that question "how can I learn to do really valuable things?". What do you think about just leaving my job and signing up for a sales job and learn the art of selling?

How To Be A GREAT Salesperson...By Monday Morning!: If You Want to Increase Your Sales Read This Book. It is That Simple Paperback – March 2, 2017
by David R Cook (Author)
4.4 out of 5 stars
A sales book to change the way you think
Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2017
This is the book you wish you had when.
As a seasoned sales professional of 20 years and 7 year sales training veteran, new and innovative sales techniques are something for which I am always on the hunt. “How to Increase Your Sales” provides that AND reframes concepts that we know, but tend to complicate. David Cook simplifies the sales process with practices that are easy to understand and, more importantly, employ. He writes in a way that sales professionals of any level, position and background can digest and appreciate. The guidance he provides couples direction with rationale making the read enjoyable as well as invaluable.
If you are looking for THE book to get you or your team skyrocketing to a new level, this is the one you need.

You don't have to be a "born" salesperson
Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2017
I always thought great salespeople like Dave were born that way; come to find out—in this book—that he’s got a system, and it’s one anyone can learn and apply.
The first part of the book takes you through the easy-to-understand system and the second part continues with important strategies and tips—still all practical advice that can be put to use immediately (“by Monday Morning” as the book says. The book is filled with interesting and helpful anecdotes (the one about Muhammad Ali is my favorite) that reflect on the principles presented.
I think Dave is counting on selling a lot of these books, because once his colleagues and competitors start using his system, he won’t be the top salesperson anymore! Highly recommended.

Best Book I've Read on Sales to Date
Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2017
I'm new to land and new home sales. Reading alot of books on the subject. While this is not Real Estate specific, I find it to the most useful sales book I have purchased. Simple techniques and great examples. Very relatable and useful for me. Excellent value and I plan to read this book over and over until I have incorporated all of the suggestions and techniques. Very pleased. The value for sales professionals in any industry is huge! Great job!

Dave Cook has done a great job in diving into the essence of being a sales professional. This book is clearly written by someone who values action over platitudes. Every chapter focuses on one step or the other in terms of the overall value chain leading to a sale. Dave is also mindful of the intangible nature of the selling process. So many useful tidbits, building off behavioral insights, truly make you appreciate the complexity of the selling process while also appreciating the idea that the sales person can still control the narrative quite a bit. I read the whole book in one sitting. It was hard to put down the book. I recommend this book to not only seasoned sales professionals but also folks that work in business development roles, newbies to the sales profession or folks that encounter sales teams.

Bought 10 copies for my sales team
Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2020
I bought this book on Kindle because I read that the author, Dave Cook, was a top salesperson at virtually every company he had ever worked at. By the time I was halfway through the book, I could see why. There are great, practical tips in here that virtually anyone can implement. I'm a natural salesperson and it comes easily to me, but I've learned in running my agency that not everyone we hire for our sales team is the same. Some people need practical strategies that they can study, learn, and implement, and this book delivers it. It made me realize that some of the things that come natural to really good salespeople are skills that not everyone is born with but they can certainly develop. And there are also strategies in here that I had never heard even heard of - like referring to the company as "they," so that you and your prospect are on the same side. Genius. I ordered 10 copies for my sales team and handed them out at the last sales meeting - they were literally fighting over who got to read them first. Excellent book!

A quick, fun read that will skyrocket your sales right away.
Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2017
This is a fantastic book. Dave explains in a clear, entertaining way what sets top salespeople apart from everyone else, with practical tactics sales professionals can start using right away (including some insider tips that could only come from someone with decades of successful sales experience). Fun, relevant anecdotes, too. Highly recommended for anyone in the business of persuasion--which, let's face it, is all of us!
Full disclosure: I work at the same company as the author, which is how I originally heard about the book, but am not otherwise affiliated in any way. This review reflects my honest opinion. It's a quick, enjoyable, and valuable read.

The book you’ve always been looking for is here!

Dear Dave,
I have worked in sales for nearly 5 years and have heard and read many of the popular sales trainers and I want to tell you that your book is brilliant! I’ve read it multiple times since I’ve purchased it and believe it’s one of the most helpful and accessible sales books available. I think many sales trainers would say you’re giving too much information! I’ve literally spent thousands of dollars on books and audios over the years to get the “secrets” to sales success, but very few of those ever measured up to what they promised. The quality of information found in your book is rare. Thank you for writing it. I’m looking forward to the audiobook!
Best,
Mark

I have zero sales skills or training. Just got a new job in sales. Talk about a leap of faith. I feel so much more confident after reading this book. I literally read it in one sitting. It's so easy to understand and grasp. There's so many gold nuggets in this book. I absolutely cannot wait to get out there and put these techniques to the test. This is an absolute must read for people like me and I can definitely see how it would benefit the seasoned pro. It's short and sweet, to the point, and the author makes it easy to add these gold nuggets to your sales technique arsenal. Highly recommend!!

Straight to the point, and at first seems very simple. Then a few days go by, and you're using his techniques in everyday life and you see the results. The psychology behind Dave's techniques are extremely powerful, and at the same time, very learnable, which I appreciated a ton.
